When we think about imbalances in the wood element, one can think about the variety of trees in nature. Dry, hard, soft, flexible/bendable. Some are too flexible and some are so brittle they can break off. One can think about their tendons and ligaments in this way. If tendons/ligaments are too tight, very little movement can occur, can tear, etc…if they are too loose, they cannot hold the body together; therefore, weakness will occur.
The wood element is about new growth, if one is not able to grow, they will become stagnant, stuck, stale (rancid), and the person will probably be quite frustrated with anger and shouting manifesting as a result of this lack of growth. Person may have a lack of adaptability and have a sense of hopelessness-not being able to see the bigger picture or sense a spiritual future. Depression is often present due to lack of energy and lack of will/determination. Eyes may look yellow, be dry (like dried up sap in a tree), etc…May have frequent headaches due to the pressure behind the eyes (too much energy in head). These people will be overly assertive/aggressive or have a lack of assertion, anger may manifest from here-they may have lost sight of what it is they want to say/express, no vision for themselves. Wood C.F.’s may over compensate by over planning, over organizing, etc… On the flip side of this, they can be very creative, dynamic, trustworthy, reliable people who accomplish a lot. Sometimes they can become too prolific and push others out of the way. They may also make poor decisions and have poor judgment.
